Web Site Migration

New Update (8/25/06 9 am): the web site has been migrated but this will not probably take effect until mid afternoon. Please refrain from posting or changing anything until you see another blog post from me because your new content might not migrate. If for some reason the site does not look normal or I haven't posted by this evening, please understand that I am working on it and should have it back up shortly. Please bear with me. Thanks
Update (7/12/06 noon): the site has not yet been moved. They are still working on a few issues that need to be fixed before it happens but it should be any time now.
I have been advised that my hosting company will be migrating the web site to a new server on 7/11/2006 at 12:00:00AM (don't ask me whether that is the morning of the 11th -- I assume it is but don't know).
Here's how they tell me it will work:
We copy your account data, Web files and e-mail onto the new hosting platform. Your site remains “live” on the current PowWeb hosting platform and will continue to be available to your site visitors as it always has. We thoroughly test all aspects of your account in the new hosting environment to make sure everything works correctly. We may ask you to help us test things along the way. Throughout this testing process, your site will be “live” on the current PowWeb hosting platform and will continue to be available to your site visitors. We will e-mail you a notice before your site is scheduled to be moved. After your site has passed our rigorous quality assurance tests, we point your domain name(s) to your site on the new platform. At this point, your site visitors will begin to access your site on the new platform. We e-mail you a second notice to inform you that your domain name has been pointed to the new platform and that the migration is complete.Hopefully this will go smoothly, but if If you experience any problems, please let me know by email or otherwise.
