student in wal-mart for 41 hrs

if I do read and study a lot at least i don't spend all my time in Wal-Mart

story

Cute

I recall a story a couple of years ago about a NYU student who lost his housing and lived in the library--bedding down in the mechanical rooms. I think the janitors were aware of it but left him alone. The title of the article, if I recall, was "This guy really lives in the library"

I know someone who......

T of TEAM actually lived in his lab for 1 year (Monday thru Friday) He would wake up early before the janitors came in, work-out outside, go to the gym to shower, then go back to the lab and still be there before any of his workmates. No one he worked with ever knew about it, as far as we know.

Amazing

Where did he keep his soap, clean clothes, shaver (beard?), towels. T that was quite an accomplishment and I bet your lab work got a lot of good hours out of you. Were you married and went home for weekends or to parents or friends?

Commuter Dad

He kept his things stashed away in the car, and came home for weekends (I had just started my current job, girls were in nursery school here). We had built up substantial debt (medical school, babies, day care during residency) and when residency was done, it was time for me to get a real job. We wanted to be closer to family so that's where I had to find a job. We didn't realize it would take him another whole year to finish. The priests at the campus church were kind and often invited him to stay in their guest quarters. They had a very active inviting parish at UConn: initially Paulist priests, and then it switched to Jesuits. Did you know that Paulists are all converts to the Catholic faith (if I'm not mistaken)? They are also supposed to be missionaries, and that is why they were forced to leave UConn (because they became too successful and could no longer be considered missionaries because the congregation grew too large).
