I just found out that I have been accepted into my school's civilizations abroad program in Pune, India.
I'll be there from late September until early December learning about the region's culture and history, traveling around the country, and learning some Hindi. I'm very very excited and happy!
it'll be a lot of fun and i'll be sure to take lots of photos.

one of my patients told me yesterday where to go for hiking in India. I'll post it later. Susan and I were going to go 20 years ago, we had it all planned. To go to Shrinigar for hiking near pakistan. An Indian friend talked us out of it saying the political situation was too dangerous and 6 months later the local war started.

Hiking is definitely on my to do list for when I'm there. Pune is near the coastal mountains known as the Ghats so there should be a good opportunity to explore a little. and I believe I only have class Monday through Thursday while I'm there and so with 3 day weekends I hope to really get to know the area.
