Birdbrains

We had a lovely Saturday together as a family. Dan had gotten in on Thursday so we had a nice game of Up and Down the River that night. Friday the men in the family went to Auriesville and walked around. Apparently, they have sold the Retreat House, where we think Uncle Francis died, so they couldn't get to that building. I had to work so they all graciously and pleasantly agreed to go on the Pitchoff hike with me in the Adirondacks on Saturday. We heard a strange sound probably a bird but it was almost mammal sounding--we actually thought it was kids fooling around for a long time. Another bird was flutelike in its song so I thought that might be a thrush. We stopped at Stewart's on the way out for well deserved food and drink and finished up at home with Homestyle pizza and the documentary about the guy and the grizzlies. "GrizzlyMan". Dan left this am to go back to chitown but not before we twitched as a definite bird, a mom nesting very business like up near Matt's roof. A & C we need you up here to make us respectable. TEAM maybe you are seeing real grizzlies. Love you all, Patty

Your flute like bird sounds like either a wood or a hermit thrush. They are beautiful sounds. We have heard wood thrush very frequently here in western NC, they are on our mountain. What is the bird like nesting near Matt's? Phoebe's nest near roofs, do you have a bird book you can check that one?
