Greetings 21st Century

Well here I am. I tried to attach a photo but haven't succeeded yet. Will work on it. I finally had a chance to start reading the blog site during my vacation in Florida with Mom, Dad, Mark and Joe. Wow, pretty interesting stuff. I'll have to get up to speed on appropriate use and content, but couldn't resist saying hi.
We had a wonderful time with Mom and Dad last week, including a nice evening with Mary and Robert D. Robert showed me an interesting web site called, Goggle Earth. I've spent an hour globe trotting two nights ago. It contains aireal photos of the entire planet. Outside of the US selected areas only are at higher resolution. I've been to sites including Frau Hatt's neighborhood in Zurich, our villa where we stayed on the Almalfi Coast, Grand Canyon, etc. Loads of interesting exploring to look forward to.
During our time in Florida, we went boating with Mom and Dad's neighbors the Beechers. We cruised around areas of Sannibel including a trip into one of the man made canals where we saw some lovely homes.
I enjoyed mostly hanging out with Mom and Dad, Mark and Joe around the pool and relaxing. Siesta Bay is such a nice little community of people. Very pleasant.
I look forward to reading the lastest blogs.
Robert

download

I've downloaded it, but have not been able to get on yet. I'm interested in the mountains and lakes around my house. Craig and I have been walking every morning possible.

Greetings

I'll have to look your place up too. It will be interesting to see how deep the forest is. Do you walk in the woods or along the road?

You can get seriously lost!

I don't walk our road because I don't think it's safe with the curves and people's speed. We walk in the woods a different way each day. We have beautiful lakes, ponds, mountains and interesting land formations right here. I've been so sore for a week! It's different than walking the track. Even my arms ache. One morning there was fresh snow. We saw two pair of fischer tracks and where they slept in a tree that night, and lots of coyote tracks. It's been nice.

Google Earth

I tried looking up West Mountain Road but it was not clear enough. Evidently Google Earth does not have every area photographed in great detail. Too bad. I was able to noticed that there are a lot of Lakes around though.

I've downloaded it but

I've downloaded it but haven't been able to get on yet. They call our road County Route 10 now instead of
West Mtn. Rd. It has been confused with the ski center road.

google

I'd like to check out where Anne and Chuck are, too.

We looked it up too, and it is amazing

Dan came home sunday and he read the blog and he has a much better computer than we do and he found the site and we looked at our house and his dorm at U of C and it was a lot of fun.

India

Does Dan know which city he will be in next semester? It would be fun to look up landmarks like the Taj Mahal. I tried looking for the great wall in China, but no luck yet.

Pune (Poona)

it is near the western ghats, so it is pretty south and west in india. the taj mahal is rather north--north of mombai (bombay) even, so im not sure if i'll be able to visit it, unless i stay a few weeks on my own after the program ends

google earth is quite amazing and fun

Pune (say Punna)

If you go to uchicago website their is a link to study abroad and then to the Pune program but Dan or Tom can probably give you a direct link. He says he's near the mountains.

Welcome Robert

It's great to have you on board. I will try your site soon. Love, P
