Here's an article about the controversy about that much reported sighting of the ivory-billed woodpecker. A & C--do you know this guy, do you use his books? have you seen the video? Did you try to see this bird in Arkansas or is it Alabama?

Yes, we use his book daily, and respect David Sibley's opinion a lot. We have seen the video and read all the articles in Science and the various birding magazines. We do check all our pileated woodpeckers closely, but we have not been to the swamps of Arkansas. Chuck has always been skeptical of the original report and says, "I need a photo". Ken Kaufmann is another recognized expert who has doubts also. I suspect the Cornell Birding Lab will send lots of people to the swamp this spring to try to find it.
