A Farewell on Ft. Myers Beach - February 25, 2011

This was a fabulous day in southwest Florida.  Bright sunshine, warm air, and a fresh breeze off the Gulf made the water sparkle.  Anne, Mom and Dad joined the Gallup’s early.  I arrived in mid-afternoon.  Everyone had a wonderful week.  Great tans, not too much burn.

Our party cleaned out the icebox to make a last supper and then walked to the beach to watch the sunset.  The “red rubber ball” fell behind Sanibel Island at 6:26.  People all along the beach watched, photographed, and even danced as the sea turned from blue to gray and the scattered clouds turned pink as the sun disappeared.  Then began the dusk, now lasting almost a half hour.  There were final goodbyes and hugs.  We left early to let the tourists finish their affairs and pack for an early morning departure.

We’re at the condo now.  Mom and Dad are enjoying Jeopardy.  I listen from the study.  We’re home early tonight and can all use the rest.  Tomorrow should be another fine day.

We had a wonderful time.

Thank you so much for all you did to be with us!  The traffic is always somethng to contend with for you to come to Estero, but we LOVED every minute of it!  We had the most perfect weather we have ever had there, in the 80's every day.  The time shared with you and Mom and Dad are treasured moments for us.
