Disclaimer on Global Warming – January 2, 2010
Submitted by woodstrehl on Mon, 01/04/2010 - 4:27pm.These comments, and there may be more, arise from my discussion at Douglas Road a few nights ago, primarily with Rob and John, that involving a party and alcohol may not have been ordered, logical, or complete.
Mom's lullaby
Submitted by Patty on Wed, 12/23/2009 - 6:39am.LULLABY
From "The Mistress of the Manse"
Rockaby, lullaby, bees in the clover!
Crooning so drowsily, crying so low,
Rockaby, lullaby, dear little rover!
Down into wonderland,
Down to the under-land
Go, oh go!
Down into wonderland go!
Rockaby, lullaby, rain on the clover!
(Tears on the eyelids that waver and weep!)
Rockaby, lullaby - bending it over!
Down on the mother-world,
Down on the other world,
Sleep, oh sleep!
Down on the mother-world sleep!

A Walk in the Park
Submitted by woodstrehl on Wed, 11/18/2009 - 3:56pm.Some years ago, Anne decided that we should walk all of the Appalachian Trail. This scheme developed from a less ambitious one of mine that our young family should complete the some 200-mile section of this same trail across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
November 18, 2009 – South Mountain, PA & Gettysburg Dedication Day
Submitted by woodstrehl on Wed, 11/18/2009 - 3:50pm.Checking this web site, I notice we have provided no news of late. So, I will post this update and also a report on our hike last month in Shenandoah National Park. We are well. Anne is working this week, filling in for a husband and wife practice of family doctors who have not taken a vacation away from home since setting up shop several years ago. They and their tots are in a warm place this week.
Some Considerations about Sen. Kennedy's funeral
Submitted by Tom on Wed, 09/16/2009 - 11:53am.To some people there was some controversy concerning the recent funeral of Sen. Kennedy. I thought I would post a link to this very thoughtful article published in the Fall River Diocese newspaper--Cape Cod is in the Fall River Diocese, btw. It helped clarify many issues about "Catholic teaching", which many of us (myself included) think we know, but upon reflection discover we don't really know, and then wonder where the heck we would look to find out.
August 10, 2009 – Golden Pond State Park
Submitted by woodstrehl on Wed, 08/12/2009 - 1:39pm.Three weddings down, one to go. Jeff and Ann’s wedding events were in downtown Madison where a highlight was the convention center at the lakefront. The dinner the night before, the wedding, and the reception were a delightful blur of greetings, watching the couple, and sporadic conversations in the crowd. We enjoyed recovering on Sunday before starting East on Monday.

On the Road Again - July 7, 2009
Submitted by woodstrehl on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 3:15pm.We have stopped for the evening in central Tennessee, having left Cherokee NC late this morning. The motor home came to life nicely and chugged over the Smokies in proper form. We coasted down through Pigeon Forge and past Knoxville. Tomorrow we roll into Henersonville to visit the Davidsons. From there we have planned stops in southern Illinois and then near St. Louis before arriving in Chicago. Looking forward to the celebration.
