To start the game, deal out one card at a time, face up. First Jack is dealer. Deal 4 cards at a time. It is polite to be quick. The person to the left of the dealer bids first.
For partners, starting bid is 20 and you only bid once. For 3-Handed, it's auction bid. If everyone passes, dealer is stuck with the bid for 20.
Protocol is to lead the ace of trump first, lead out all of your aces and then follow with the queen of trump unless you have the double ace, ten leads. Then you lead out all the trump until you and your partner are the only ones holding trump.
Every player should be able to keep track and count in their head how many trump are "out".
You have to follow suit when possible, if not, you MUST trump. Other players HAVE TO BEAT trump if they can.
When counting points in your tricks, Aces, Tens and Kings are worth one point each, plus one for whoever took last trick.
You must take at least one trick to keep your meld. There doesn't have to be a point in it.
A bidding strategy for partners is to bid an odd number for meld and an even bid for power.
Minimum bid for "100" Aces (one of each suit) is 25.
Minimum bid for a run is 26.

Bidding
To figure out if you should bid or what to bid, here is a good rule of thumb. I personally have not gotten the hang of this, but it is supposed to be pretty close.
Count losers x 2
Subtract this number from 25
Add meld
This will give you the number you should be able to take.
double pinocle
can each partner contribute one pinocle and get credit for the double pinocle?
No.
The double pinocle must be in one hand.
