Our Visit to San Francisco

I had some problem in completing last blog and will continue here.

To cool the apartment, I open a window.  It is like an air conditioner.  Open a little is the low setting.  Open a lot is super max.  You freeze.  The mornings begin calm, but by afternoon when it may be warm there is always wind.  It rustles the trees and shapes them over time.

Anne and I have enjoyed rising early.  Sometimes we jogged along the Panhandle Park.  At rush hour we have to avoid rapidly moving cyclists on one path.  The return path is limited to joggers and dog walkers.  Many lovely young people.  Sprinklers dampen the paved lanes, keep the grass green, and nourish the various redwoods, cypress, and eucalyptus trees that tower overhead.

On other days we joined the Golden Gate Audubon for bird walks and added various West Coast species that are now migrating across town to our year list.  It is fun to see these birds and meet Bay Area birders.  We know a few from previous visits.  In a sense we have joined this local community.

We visited some of our favorite spots, the Golden Gate Park, Corona Heights, and West End.  There is powerful scenery around the Golden Gate.  We will go there now with Laurie.

We took Alex out to three fine restaurants during our visit, a Christmas present of sorts.  One in Mission, one in Soma, and and one near Fishermanss Waharf.

Once again, I can’t see my text and will have to stop.  My blogs may be short.
