Report from SW Florida
Evening has fallen at Heritage Cove. My eyes are blurry from a good swim at the pool this afternoon. Bob H. joined me at the pool, but instead of swimming laps, he enjoyed the afternoon warmth in a lounge chair and worked on a novel. Mom, Cathy, and Anne spent most of the day at a quilt workshop in North Fort Myers. Dad played bocce. A good day was had by all.
We have dined and are mostly chatting now. Mark & Mary Helen landed this afternoon. Mark's parents picked them up at the airport. They are stopping by this evening to join the party. No big plans for tomorrow. The day is to be warm and windy. Another "cold front" comes through tomorrow evening bringing storms. The weekend will be cool again, but that is the way of winter in south Florida. I chuckle seeing that our home in PA is supposed to see 6-12 inches of new snow in the next 48 hours.
At least some of us plan to visit Sanibel Island on Saturday and tour the famous Ding Darling National Wildlfe Refuge. Usually we find many pink spoonbills and white pelicans there.
All except Mom are well, and she is doing much better. Pneumonia was diagnosed although she blamed her discomfort on the weather and really did not want to go to the doctor. Her in-house doctor daughter insisted, and she allowed herself to be taken and has been reluctantly taking the antibiotics that seem to be performing their modern miracle and making her well.
So, we enjoy the blessings of being in a sub-tropical climate in this month that is famous for not quite being the last of winter.
