Ribs

Brown the ribs 7 or 8 minutes each side of the side of ribs in the broiler. salt and pepper each side or I sometimes use homemade rub with Grandma's french herbs and celery seed added. I cut the side of ribs in half and place them under the broiler one side at a time. 2 sides per crockpot. so it takes a half hour but while that is happening I am preparing the crockpot and sauce.
optional: sliced onion on the bottom of crock pot; pam sides just in case to avoid sticking
prepare James Beard sauce:
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, crushed and chopped
3 Tablespoons catsup
1/2 cup water or white wine
Slice ribs into serving pieces and add to crockpot
pour half sauce over first side; add second side and pour the rest
The best ribs are when I am home and half way through the cooking I take out the ribs and lots of the sauce and return the ribs in reverse order and pour the sauce over again.
Cook for crockpot times--mine says 8 to 10 hours on low and 4 to 5 hours on high.
3 to 4 pounds of spareribs serves 3 to 4 persons.
