Fishermen on the Russian River, AK

We were fortunate to be present for the coho (red) salmon run in the Russian River near the town of Cooper Landing and took a small ferry across the wide and active river with all the fishermen. We went to watch the fishermen, but mostly to see the bears which come to the river for the same reason. The river is cloudy from glacial dust, so the fishermen cast blindly into the stream hoping to snag a salmon in the mouth. Believe it or not, a good percentage actually leave with their limit of 3 per day.
